Feeling Bohemian At The Bohemian: A Wine Bar

The Bohemian: A Wine Bar (Patio)

Here we are about five months into the biggest change and challenge that most of us have ever experienced in our adult lives. It seems like an episode from The Twilight Zone, but this is our new reality. Food shortages, loss of income, masks, gloves and more are just a reflection of the times. Times like these give you an appreciation for family, friends, camaraderie, and just a sense of normalcy.

We started this blog because we have a passion and appreciation for food near and far. We would love nothing more than to go to our favorite fine dining restaurant, or our favorite wing spot to eat, drink, and be merry. However, the times of dining without safety precautions in place have come to a screeching halt for our safety and the safety of those around us.

It’s been a challenge for us, but more importantly a challenge for the nurses, doctors, and essential workers, that report to work every day. We love you; we see you and appreciate all that you do to keep us safe! So, five months later, where are we? We’ve cooked more brunches, got more creative with lunches, ordered in for dinner, and eaten all our quarantine snacks, so we are not any thinner. How many Zoom calls have you done during this time? We lost count weeks ago.

Have you already watched everything on Netflix and Hulu? Yes, we’ve done that too! So, what now? We are making it a priority to continue to share with you all the places that we love and support here locally. These places put a smile on our faces even if that smile is hidden behind a mask. By the way, Tyra Banks, where are you? We all need a lesson in “smizing” right now, because it’s hard to express emotion with a mask on. On second thought, we can just stream episodes of America’s Next Top Model on Hulu.

So most recently we have been smiling because we ventured over to Plaza Midwood for some lovely, bubbly, socially distanced, spirits. We stopped into The Bohemian on Pecan Avenue for a much-needed glass of champagne. The Bohemian offers an assortment of wines, bubbly, beer, and sophisticated bar food. Yes, you saw that right, sophisticated bar food! However, don’t be mistaken, this place is laid back and chill with all the vibes you would expect from Plaza Midwood. You can watch the sun set while enjoying your favorite bottle of wine and a delightful prosciutto and fig jam flatbread. If you are within a 3-mile radius of The Bohemian, you can order delivery of wine and food right to your doorstep. I mean can it seriously get any better than that?

While we know that it will be a while before we can full enjoy a fuss free dining experience the Bohemian gives you a great experience despite the current circumstances. From the décor to the staff it’s such a great feeling to be there. Our recent journey was exactly what we needed after being apart for the past several months.

We are excited to continue our journey with food and dining because that is what we love! We are all currently weathering the same storm, but just in different boats. Remember, to do the things that bring you joy right now. When possible don’t forget to support the places you love, in a way that feels comfortable for you and those nearest and dearest to you.

Until next time! Stay safe, keep your sanitizer close, and wear your mask.
